Move pagefile to other drive

Before you start You Must Have Two Hard Drives on your system. If you don't have two hard drives then you CANNOT move the paging file.

1. Click the START button

2. From the Start menu select Control Panel

3. In Control panel click the System Icon

4. When the System Properties Window opens click the Advanced Tab

5. At the top of the Advanced Tab you will see a section marked Performance

6. Click the Settings button in the performance Section

7. When the Performance window opens click the Advanced tab

8. At the bottom of the window you will see a section marked Virtual Memory. Click the Change button

9. The Virtual Memory window now opens

10. You will now see details of your paging file and the drive it is stored on

11. Now Select The Drive you want to change the paging file to (an alternative drive to c:)

12. Under the Total Paging File Size for All Drives you will see a figure in MB (megabytes). This is the Recommended paging file size

13. Click on the Custom Size Option and in the Initial Size dialog box enter the Recommended value

14. In the Maximum Size option box type in Twice the recommended value figure

15. Now click the Set button

16. Now select your C: drive from the details box and then put a check in the No Paging File option

17. Once again click Set

18. Finally click OK on each window to Exit the System Properties

19. You will need to reboot your pc for the changes in the paging file to take effect
